Miami Cruise Port

Some shots I took from the ship looking over the Miami Cruise Port area. I like the look of the last two as the sun was starting to set.

Lighthouse

I couldn't decide which composition I liked better so you get both. Yup, I'm a lazy blogger. Haven't blogged here in weeks and still posting photos from August!

Behind the Clouds

From this past weekend. The moon was looking kinda cool behind the clouds as it was starting to get dark so I ran outside with my camera.

Buoys

I still have photos from our trip in August that I haven't shared. These buoys were hanging outside of the gift shop where we went for the whale watch tour.

Burglar Alarm

My husband thought this was quite funny. Labeling the burglar alarm. Wonder if it still works.

Leaves are changing

We're only a couple days into autumn and the leaves are changing already. Not all of them, it seems kind of random. But they're changing none the less. Maybe because we had such a mild summer and it never got really hot around here.

I can't believe it's been over two weeks since I posted over here! I've been in a bit of a photo phunk lately. Haven't gone out and shot much until today. Hubby talked me into taking some shots of him to practice.

Been trying to decide where I want to go with my photography. I'd like to take that next step into a business but where do I start? I know I need some more practice, instruction, equipment and photo editing experience. Not to mention confidence in myself! I did take a photoshop class about 1.5 years ago but it was kind of basic. I have since bought another version of the software and am lost again! lol Everything is set up differently and I'm trying to find my way around.

Hubby has been great....trying to encourage me to do something! That's why we went out today.

Show Me: Front Door

Today we are showing off our Front Doors.
So far this is the one I've had the most trouble with. It just wasn't working for me. I wasn't planning to photograph the entire door, but I kinda like the way this one turned out after I softened it a bit.

Then hubby had to get in on the action when he saw that I was taking pics.....

What a goof!

Show Me: Kitchen

Today's show me challenge is your kitchen.
Sorry, but my kitchen is a little, um.....cluttered so I'm not sharing the entire room.
I'll just go with the fun part of it....my hubby's lunchbox collection!
He has them all displayed in the area between the upper cabinets and the ceiling.
I tried to get a shot of the entire collection but that just didn't work well.

This is one of my favorites. I was a big Dukes of Hazzard and John Schneider fan as a young teen.

Show Me: Mailbox

Robert over at Thoughts of a Father started a new project called "Show Me". Each day this week we all share certain objects from our daily life. Stop by his blog if you'd like to participate and to see the other entries.
Today's challenge is our mailbox.

I love getting snail mail! Always have. Well, as long as it's not bills and junk. My box is the closest. We live in a subdivision where all the mailboxes are uniform (black, plastic mounted on these wooden posts), except for a few here and there that have had to be replaced. Like the one next to ours which is metal. The hinges on the plastic door aren't very sturdy so some have had to replace their box. The wooden box underneath is for newspapers. They also get filled with flyers, catalogs and junk from local businesses.

Photo Hunt: String(s)

Guitar Strings

I'm using a picture I took back in May. This is the first thing I thought of and unfortunately didn't have the time to look for something new.

Magic Wings

As in butterflies. Magic Wings is a butterfly garden that we visited on our trip to Massachusetts last month.

There were hundreds of butterflies swarming around. Some of them barely stopped long enough for you get a picture.

I like this one below. If you look closely it looks as if he is smiling! You may have to click on the image to bring it up a little bigger.

Bee

Taken in the gardens at the Yankee Candle store in South Deerfield, MA.
We usually end up visiting there any time we go to Massachusetts.

Photo Hunt: Beautiful

This week's theme is beautiful. I may be biased because I'm their mom, but I think they are both beautiful!!

Yoke

How about I get back to posting some pictures? This is a photo blog after all! I took a bunch on our recent trip to Massachusetts and will be sharing some here over the next week or two.

This yoke is on my Uncle's (formerly my grandparent's) garage. Not completely sure where it came from. I'm guessing my grandmother might have brought it back from her home in Virginia.
Now I've got myself curious and need to find out!

Wildflower

Another from the nature center this weekend. This may be my last post for about a week and a half. Heading out of town to visit family. While I'll probably be able to get online while there, I doubt I'll be uploading any pics to my aunt's computer.
See ya soon! With hopefully lots of pics.

Dragonflies

We went to a nature center yesterday. There were dragonflies everywhere. Not many of them would pose for very long. Here are two different kinds we saw. Again, I was wishing I had a macro lens, this is the best of what I got.

Giant Mushroom

AKA: Water tower with a hat
Looks like they are getting ready to sandblast/paint one of the local water towers. So hubby stopped today so I could take some pics of it.

A few more from the zoo

This lion was trying to sleep. But was getting distracted by people taking flash photos.

It's not that often that you can get a good photo of either of the hippos. They don't come up out of the water very often.

And this one is my absolute favorite!! They just recently brought back the flamingos after redoing their area.

Photo Hunt: Cloud(s)

It's a beautiful sunny day out today and there are some great clouds out there!

That was not the case back in June when I took this one. The storm clouds were rolling in.

Hot Air Balloon

This was taken a couple nights ago. My daughter came in the house and told me to grab my camera, there's a "hot balloon" outside.
You mean a hot air balloon? LOL

Equal Time

I know I've shared a couple pics of my youngest here. So I thought it would only be fair to post one of my other daughter too. She hates having her picture taken, but I usually get great shots of her when she lets me.

Photo Hunt: What IS that?

This critter was on the side of our pool about a week ago. I've never seen anything like it. So of course I had to go grab the camera. It hung out there for quite some time. Anyone know what it's called?

Project Black, Take 6

The detail of the iron railings along the stairs at our local Boy Scout's building.
The shadows on the wall behind it are from the stairs.

Project Black, Take 5

I love this one of my daughter in her black dress.
You can't see her face but you can still see she was showing a little attitude.
I actually took this about a month ago.
