Lineman's Rodeo

The weekend before last they held Wisconsin's 2nd Annual Lineman's Rodeo in town. It's a competition between area Utility workers. This photo is from the opening ceremony. Each lineman climbed to their spot and then they passed the US Flag up and mounted it on the top of the pole. They then played the national anthem before beginning the competition. We only stayed a short time to see what was involved, take a few pics and check out some of the trucks. It was taking a while before any of the events started and the kids were getting restless and hungry.

That's a crazy pic! I have a question for you - I tried to copy the daily photo link from your side bar - it worked, but my typing box doesn't work. I'm on that city daily photo blog website, but I'm not sure my blog is properly linked - any suggestions? thanks!

My uncle was a lineman for the electric company in Wisconsin. He always mentioned how hard it is on the knees to climb those poles.

I clicked on the photo to enlarge it and saw what a good job you did of catching the confidence with which these men view their equipment and skills--they look relaxed up there on that pole! Thanks for taking time to get it before your departure.

I know, isn't it amazing how they lean back without holding on? I'd have both arms wrapped around the pole! They are obviously good at what they do.
