Fall Colors 1

I've taken a bunch of fall colors photos recently, so thought I'd post a few over the next few days.

Crushed

I originally started this as a City Daily Photo blog of the city I live in. After doing it for a couple weeks I decided it wasn't really what I wanted to do. I still visit the site because there are some great blogs there but I just decided I didn't like the idea of being limited to just showing my city. I also decided being bound to posting daily was a little much too. Hey, I may still end up posting daily, but it will be because I want to and have the photos available and not because I feel like I have to.

Here's a photo I took in my garage the other day just playing around. My kids save and crush cans to turn them in for money. My husband gave me a weird look when I showed him this on my camera's LCD.

Mutt Mitt

My family kind of dared me to take this photo. I don't know, I guess for some reason they didn't think I would. Anyone walking a dog needs to have it on a leash and also pick up after any mess it makes. I'm assuming it's like that in most places now. I guess as a reminder they have these Mutt Mitt containers set up in various places around town. Many people just use plastic shopping bags but these say they are degradable which would be better for the environment.

Going for a ride

Here's another one I took at the Lineman's Rodeo. This is one of the two water towers in town. It's amazing how dirty it gets on the underside. You can also see someone going up in the bucket. They were offering bucket rides for anyone who wanted to go up.

Willow tree

This Willow is right near the barn I posted yesterday. I don't know why but these have always been my favorite tree. Not sure which kind this is. While looking it up today I see there are about 350 different species of Willow trees, wow! And here I've always referred to them all as Weeping Willows, guess that's not the case.

Antiques Barn

I've always loved the look of this barn. I drive by it just about every day. Inside (and accessed by the other side of the building) is an antique and collectibles store called "The Gathering Place".

Summer's Over

So there's no more lifeguard on duty at City Beach on Lac La Belle! Today is the first day of autumn, my favorite season. Cool sweatshirt weather and the changing colors of the trees. They've started to change a bit here. Hope to get out there soon and gets some nice fall color shots.

On my honor.....

In case you are not familiar with it those are the first three words in the Girls Scout Promise.

I took a walk through the park the other day and got this picture of the local Girl Scout Troop house. Many area troops hold their meetings and other activities there and share in the cleaning and up keep of the building. Both of my girls have used the building at one time or another. Tomorrow I'll show you where the Boy Scouts meet. Their building is in the same park.

Relaxing in the sun

I came across some ducks relaxing in the sun the other day. Tried to get as close as I could without scaring them off. Gotta love my zoom lens!

Snacks

This truck is permanently parked at the city beach to provide refreshments for swimmers. Summer's coming to and end though, so I think it's closed for the season.

Ski Hill - where is everyone?

It's a little deserted at this time of year with no snow. I'm sure the first snow fall will bring activity!

Lineman's Rodeo

The weekend before last they held Wisconsin's 2nd Annual Lineman's Rodeo in town. It's a competition between area Utility workers. This photo is from the opening ceremony. Each lineman climbed to their spot and then they passed the US Flag up and mounted it on the top of the pole. They then played the national anthem before beginning the competition. We only stayed a short time to see what was involved, take a few pics and check out some of the trucks. It was taking a while before any of the events started and the kids were getting restless and hungry.

City Hall

Every city has a city hall, right? Well, here's ours. The main entrance is under the clock tower in the left of the photo. The back of the building houses the Police Department.

Fowler Lake

Decisions, decisions! Only my second day and I'm already have trouble deciding what to post. lol I've taken many photos over the past week or so to prepare for this blog.

There are quite a few lakes around the area. This is part of Fowler Lake. This was taken from a boardwalk area near downtown. There is a park on the opposite side of the lake. Many people will walk around the entire lake for exercise.
